Blondie brownie dessert is my favorite recipe for Applebee's, so I have to share my house to change the popular treat! The nuts can be added (1 / 2 cup) to the basic recipe. I like to serve with plain ice cream with vanilla or you can use the frosting recipe if you prefer. I also included a recipe for a holiday surprise. I make these bars every year during the holiday season to rave reviews!
Brownies with vanilla
1 package (10-11 ounces) white (vanilla) pieces of cooking
1 / 2 cup butter or margarine
1 1 / 4 cup all-purpose flour
3 / 4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 eggs
(13 "x 9") square pan (buttered and floured)
Vanilla Frosting (optional) see below
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Heat pieces of vanilla and butter in a saucepan heavy 2 watch on low heat. Stir frequently until melted. Remove from heat and stir in flour, sugar, vanilla and eggs. Stir 1 / 2 cup chopped walnuts (optional). Spread batter into a 13×9 pan. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely before cutting. Spread with vanilla frosting or serve with plain ice cream with vanilla (in Form of Applebee's is served).
Chewy Oatmeal Bars
2 1 / 3 cups all purpose flour, divided
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp Tea. baking soda
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, melted
3 cups chocolate chips Semi-sweet
1 1 / 2 cups walnuts
1 jar (12.25 ounces) caramel ice cream Topping
Mix 2 cups flour, oats, brown sugar and baking soda in large bowl. Add butter and mix until all ingredients are moistened. Reserve 1 cup of this mixture breadcrumbs; press remaining mixture into bottom of a 13×9 inch pan. Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 15 minutes until lightly browned. Remove from the oven. Sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts. Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture (press down). Return to oven and cook 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely before cutting into bars.
